Logging Flume

I believe this is the logging flume at the Greenpoint Mill, which is now the location of Kingsley reservoir. The 1911 Hood River County map indicates that flumes from Rainy, Black, and North lakes came together above this spot and fed the Greenpoint mill. Lumber from Greenpoint then traveled by flume down to mills at the Belmont district (near the intersection of Belmont and Country Club roads, and then down to the mill at Ruthton near the railroad tracks.

Camp Yallani was where the teenage girls worked in the summer as counselors. Since the beginning of time, teenage girls and boys have attempted to become acquainted. In the pursuit of that objective, I have heard that some boys-possibly from Wy’East H. S.– may have attempted some foolish adventures. I’ve heard that some parents were contacted by forest rangers insinuating that their sons were apprehended by rangers while sneaking around in the forest after dark. I am confident that nothing "bad" ever occurred as a result of these numerous adventures. Since young lads didn’t have smart phones in those days, they had to learn wisdom from personal experience.

Arthur….some memories/stories need to be left out of the historical documents/records……

There are some hair-raising stories about riding the flumes. None that I’ve seen on the route from the 3 small lakes to Greenpoint, but from Greenpoint down to the Belmont mill.

The double plank walkway looks safe, I may be wrong but I believe the Broughton was one board wide.

So…did logs go down this flume, then from here rough cut lumber went down a flume to Belmont?
There was a previous discussion here about Camp Yallani, but evidently no photo.
I looked for Buzz and Arlen’s names in this article but couldn’t find them.
