A quick scan of the “Wanted” section of the April 20, 1911, Hood River Glacier, gives quite a bit of insight into life here 115 years ago. It’s interesting to see Samuel Blythe is selling “Twin Oaks Farm“. He may have changed his mind, since the family was having a party there three years later.

I love to pick out little bits of information from these posts. The add for hatching eggs has Wyandotte chickens. Well that name was used by Wyandotte Toys until 1957. I have two nice large trucks. Gifts to me when 9 or 10 years old.

I was chuckling at J. J. Mosley saying those wanting cheap help need not apply.
In 1920 he is back in Oklahoma.

I am left wondering what John Raney’s “Trojan Powder, no headache”, available in extra strength, was all about. Was this some type of pain medicine, or perhaps gunpowder or explosives?
It is interesting that the majority of ads don’t mention any prices, suggesting most everything was negotiable.
