Looks like there might have been some prior accident as the railing up there has been repaired. Wooden fences apparently didn’t stop much once a vehicle got on a good skid. I think the photo is taken off the bridge. It looks like a bunch of stuff sitting in front of the truck, possibly items taken out in preparing to drag it back up to the road. Had he gone in the river, he would have had more of a chilling adventure than he had going down the bank.

Rowena Loops? Looks like more guardrail in background. I think the "repair" is actually a structure to carry the road over that little swale, although it looks like it is in a state of repair or construction. Notice the chains on the back tires of the truck?

I am curious how it ended up straight down hill. Usually, if you are going uphill on slick roads you slide off to the side or backwards. Not forward. If he was coming down hill, seems like he would be facing more downstream.
Looks like maybe someone walked around on the other side of the river.
Is that a cable lying on the ground from the vehicle up the hill to the brush?

Arthur, can you read the sign near the door? Yep, back chains….bet that was one thrill ride. Not much snow but if black ice, that was NEVER any
fun.

The symbol on the door is out of focus, but I suspect it is a lineman’s truck. There is a two piece pole mounted on the side, and there is a pile of misc. gear on the ground. I think they’re in the process of winching it up the hill.

Looks like the bottom of highway 35 at the top. taken from the old state street bridge.

I wonder if he was coming down the grade from the east on Hwy 30 and failed to make the turn where Button junction is today to take him to the bridge?
