Weber Brothers store sure seems like it has everything you could possibly need living in a rural farming community. There was some discussion about this store in the comments attached to this post. Apparently it burned a while ago, but was near the Odell Grade School. Hopefully we can get a little more detail from those of you who remember this store.

Arthur- are there any ads showing the inside/outside of McIsaacs Store in Parkdale? It burned down in 1973… I have dreams occasionally of being inside the old store.

Oh Weber’s! Many childhood memories there. It was on the NW corner of Odell Hwy and Summit (or just south of Chuby’s). I think if you look at Google Street View, you can see a wall of the old stone part of the building.

The History of Hood River County, 1952-1982, page 499 has a history of the Stone Store Building that operated as Weber Bros. Also see page 514 for Weber’s Promart Home Center. (The Hood River County Historical Society has the copyright, so they could post the articles here).

My maternal grandparents, the Moilanens, lived close by Weber Brothers Store. I remember getting sodas from their water cooler, the smells of the organic products they sold, and I think Grandma got her pansies from there. Good memories.

One time my great uncle Lew Merz gave us an orchard sprayer. It needed new seals and gaskets. John went into Weber’s and Ted took him to a cabinet of sprayer parts. Sure enough, there was a kit for replacing everything we needed to replace. Only at Weber’s!
