Historic Hood River
Climbers on Eliot Glacier, 1928
7-11-2012

Notes
This C.S. Reeves image shows climbers on what is described as a “side trip on Eliot Glacier.” The note indicates that this was a year the American Legion Climb was not held. Perhaps this trip was a substitute because of bad weather for a summit attempt.

Yes, if it was deemed that a trip to the summit was not something that the leaders of the climb wished to take they did a glacier hike. This happened a number of times over the years, but they tried to get people out, since they wished to make it a fun day for the participants.

What a great pic. Trying to count the number of women but it looks like recreational dress is coming closer together – no longer dresses and hats.
Can you get a count Arthur?
