There was a time when the quality of the stationery a company used made a real statement. The City’s archives are full of old letters with some great examples of the lost art of the letterhead. This one captured my attention both because of the archaic fire apparatus and the content of the letter. Letterhead aficionados may also appreciate this earlier post.

They put a lot of thought into letterheads of bygone eras. I agree there are many exquite ones out there.
Society seems to set a standard for letter heads and also the calling cards, which were very much in use especially in the 1800’s.
We now have friends just stop by, but that was an era when many ladies had definite "calling hours on particular days."
Wonder if Hood River bought their first engine through this company? Would love to see the calendars that they offered.

Is the ink blue colored from a mimeograph machine, or is it typed?
Just checked the earlier post and I see it is blue ink.
I too would like to see those calendars.

Do you have any further information about this interaction? Was the town of Hood River considering buying a Howe fire engine? Did they end up buying a Howe engine?
