Yet another case of “follow the clues”: We have an image from Alva Day’s Kodak “autographic” camera with the date September 5, 1935, a sign promising “Electric Power Reduces Costs” and a sign saying “The Silo/ J. W. Copeland Yards.” We know in previous years Alva Day attended the Oregon State Fair in September to help Pacific Power promote electricity use in agriculture. We know from this image Alva Day had this model Chevy in 1935.
This biography of J. W. Copeland, founder of Copeland Lumber, includes a photo which seems a pretty reasonable face match to this somewhat younger man.
It seems a good bet Pacific Power and Copeland Lumber were doing some joint promotion at the 1935 Oregon State Fair, and Alva Day took several photographs with Mr. Copeland to document the occasion.

I like the power down feed, on the front of the large oak (?) tree, to a panel and meter the electric motors are plugged into.

I grew up with Copeland’s familiar orange circle and black cat in my home town.

I was just looking at a 1913 map of the Gilmer Valley in Klickitat County. There are several parcels owned by Copeland Lbr. Co.
