Summer heat sent Hood River residents up the mountain looking for a little relief. Every August the Days loaded up the trailer, hitched it to the Chevy, and headed to Lost Lake with their friends and family. We’ll spend the week up there with them. Wait until you see how much they packed into that trailer.

They no doubt like other "campers" of that time took everything but the kitchen sink. Even in the 50’s that was the case.
Okay no doubt more than one vehicle is involved if all these people are going camping. I can just imagine the "fun" it would have been to take that car and trailer into Lost Lake on the road that was available during those years.

You had to know how to tie ropes with the right knots to hold a load.
Lo Stewart Day’s father lived with them for a while, so that is probably who one of the gentlemen is.
Daughters are Helen and Emma. Son Carroll is not in the photo.
Can you imagine how dusty everything was by the time they arrived at the Lake?

I remember as a kid during the 50’s going to Lost Lake every summer with other members of my family (MANY other members) for at least two weeks, sometimes longer. Had a blast!! Can’t wait to see what other pictures you have.
