Notes
No 1950s Home Economics class would be complete without plenty of Crisco, the all purpose modern shortening. Alan Winans Wyeast High School photo, circa 1954.
This is a good time to observe how lucky we are these negatives survived, thanks to Alan Winans and Paul Kollas. I can do so much more with a negative than a period print. With a modern scanner and software we can see even more in these images than the photographer could when they were freshly developed.
Charlott
We have at the left Dolly (Fenwick) Rasmussen. In the jumper we see Bernice "Bernie" Baker, then we skip on girl and there is Ivonne (Baker) Delephine. (Bernie and Ivonne were sisters.) Not certain but think the gal stirring is one of the Sumoge girls and that is Ella Shibahara next to her. Some of the rest look familiar, but can’t tag a name to them.

Angel Food Cake Time!
One thing this era did wrong was,….boys couldn’t take Home Ec and girls couldn’t take shop.
Arlen Sheldrake
and the list goes on L.E….how about basketball, etc…..damn, I wish brother John W. (Wy’East HS class of 1955) was alive to see these Winans/Kollas pictures…..the girl on the far right looks like "trouble"………

The girl kneeling is Donna Pierson, Roger’s sister.

With "Sox" rolled down just right! Guess the Wy "˜East alumni remembered these girls. I bet whatever they cooked, a boy or two might have gotten a taste.
