This glass negative has suffered some pretty serious degradation, but how do you think we’ll all look at 110? Anne Lang is probably the photographer. She was quite a skilled portraitist, and this one certainly captures the spirit of our “Fun Friday” series. It was probably shot near her home in the Dalles circa 1900.

I am always in ah of the little hand made dresses both baby boys and girls wore in that era. All the ironing involved!!!!

That black dog looks relaxed, but he’s watching.
It must have been so hard to get a spur of the moment photo back then. I sometimes get impatient because my digital takes too long to turn on.

Wonderful picture! Having had both breeds, the Walker Hound (treeing hound) is totally ‘old dog in breeding and attitude. Hunt, sleep, eat, hunt, eat, sleep. Retriever breeds are more human oriented and protective. I think the retriever is keeping a watchful eye on the photographer, and the hounds are just in sleep mode. A cat strolling by could change that – for the hounds.
