This is another one of Benjamin Gifford’s fine photogravures from a book published at the time of the Lewis and Clark Expo. The 1905 Expo brought people from all over the country and the world to Portland, and a trip up the Gorge was an attractive side trip– including a visit to Hood River.
Can anyone find the spot? It seems a little west of this one, but I’m not sure how far.

I have photos taken from Idlewild cemetery that are fairly close to this alignment, but not sure about the depth (distance).

Lining up the tip of Adams just to the left of the cross-point of the two ridges, it lines up with about 11th Street.

a lot of history can be traced back to that 1905 exposition…..the OR&N purchased the OR&N 197 steam locomotive to help pull the loads of passengers coming to the exposition….we now talk about that history as visitors look at the 197 / UP 3203 at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center…..I also tell folk, before hopefully their eyes glaze over, that the City of Roses moniker came out of the city planting rose bushes all over to spruce up the city for visitors (NOW time again to do it again!)

Did you not show a similar shot with trees and a picket fence and it was at the top of 12th st just as it starts to drop off?

This could be 12th Street, just where the hill starts to slope downward from the Heights.
