Historic Hood River
W.D. Rogers Panorama
8-5-2021

Notes
This is a detail from a W.D. Rogers panorama that covers the entire Hood River valley from Mt. Hood to Mt. Adams. Panoramas don’t show very well on this site, so I’m just sharing the view of the lower valley, including the city and the Hood River delta. Rogers was active in this area in the first years of the twentieth century.

Arthur, looking at the whole panorama can you identify where the cultivated area in foreground is located? And is the HR delta Wells Island?
ArthurB
cg, you can see where the Hood River enters the Columbia about an inch to the left of the right border of the image. The Hood River Delta is all the vegetated marshy land around it. Wells Island is the surrounded by shoals which are not vegetated.

You can see a bit of the west slough of the Hood River. Not as noticeable as in this map.

What is noticeable is how rugged the country is behind Underwood Mtn.
