Here’s a nice hand-colored view of Mosier, circa 1910. This is a good reminder to drop by sometime this week and buy some cherries. They’re very good this year, and the train derailment cost the local farmers almost a week of sales.

I am surprised Mosier had a RR water tank next to the depot. Hood River had one just west of the depot and at The Dalles there was one at the roundhouse, rare to see them located five miles apart.

A few things pop out to me here. Appears that the main business district ran up and down, not parallel with the river. I do see the cherry house there on the left. Also surprised as to how much land there actually was between the river and the railroad. Has to be berries, probably strawberries planted out there near the mouth of Mosier Creek.

A good view of Coyote Wall and the Bingen Anticline. (I think I have that right)
There is an Indian legend about coyote doing something in this gap so salmon could continue up the river to feed the people.

lunch at the Baldwin Saloon with a stop in Mosier and purchased some cherries…GREAT day in the Gorge. good tip Arthur.

KK (Kenns Komment) above says five miles apart, he meant ten but that still is unusually close together, It may have been due to the fact much switching was at one time done at Mosier with multiple tracks and fruit warehouses.
