Given the technical limits of photography around 1900, it’s always a treat to see an interior view. This view shows off the family’s “Valley Gem Cabinet Grand” piano. A caption indicates the portrait over the piano is Lucius Clark, so perhaps this is an interior to this fine home. It’s worth ready Charlott’s notes at that link.

Looking at the 2016 link picture, this was quite a grand home. Do we have a commenter in the mix that could give some insight into building techniques back in the day? A good many homes have survived. Dimensional clear lumber would have helped! But houses today probably won’t be talked about a hundred years from now.

I agree, LE. Remember it was Bill Pattison who convinced me we needed to figure out how to get the “old folks” together to share their history while they were still around. Bill and Charlott (and Buzz, Homer, and several others) have left us so much to help understand local history. I was just commenting today how I wish I could ask Homer Yasui a question about his father.
