I believe you can still rent paddle boats on Lost Lake, though I’ve never seen one like this craft from August 1938. Hope you’ve enjoyed a week at the lake with Alva Day and friends.
hmm, how interesting. in monday’s photo, I kept zooming in on something in the background, above, to the left, of the cowboy coffee pot on the riveted stove. never figured out what it/they were. could it be a set of paddles that sit in the oar locks of a row boat? perhaps Arthur can see it better in the original…

Upon looking closer at the Monday photo, yes, you can make out the boat with the paddles on it. I bet it was one of Alva Day’s own inventions for use on the lake.

A lot of dead snags across the lake. Must have been a fire at one time.
These two are dressed as if it was a day trip and not a camping trip.

Come on you guys, get your days straight. Tuesday’s photo. Monday, they were in Hood River all packed up and ready to leave. I had to look for a while to find the creel. A real, "Where’s Waldo" photo.
I would like to know if the lady in the boat is Alva’s daughter or daughter in law.

Alva and Io (Stewart) Day had a son Carroll and two daughters Emma and Helen. During this time frame Carroll would have been married to his first wife, Helen.
