Historic Hood River
Will Sheets
12-14-2016

Notes
Sometimes I think they’re just teasing us. This image is just labelled “Will Sheets.”
Will Sheets was Hood River’s first fire chief. We know he also played baseball and football. He was married to Blanche Blowers so perhaps this is the counter at A.S. Blowers Store. All I can make out definitively is a nice selection of cigars. There is a large mechanical apparatus which almost looks like a printing press at the very right edge of the frame.
It looks to me like this shop has dirt floors.

Dirt floors…………….or dirty floors……..

I remember Will. He was a gangly guy on a bicycle. He was also in this Blowers family photo.

I wonder what the contraption is on the right? The floor and counter kind of look like their was a flood.

Looks like candy in those glass jars on the back wall, and stacks of cigarette cartons at left. No idea what the big machine at right is, but it also reminds me of a printing press.
Longshot
The machine on the right looks to have an electric motor up top with a belt drive. There could also be another belt hanging loose lower down.

I wonder if it is a coffee or grain grinder? Grain would make a lot of dust.

This looks to me like an early version of the modern day Hood River cannabis shop!

I think that is a coffee roaster. Did they do that then?
