Historic Hood River

These ladies appear to be getting ready to board the Mt. Hood Railroad jitney for a ride up the Hood River valley. The list of destinations is posted on the depot:  Powerdale, Switchback, Van Horn, Mohrs, Odell, Summit, Bloucher.  We can’t see the rest because it’s behind a sign asking, “Are You Using American Express Money Orders to Pay Your Bills?”  You don’t see Traveller’s Checks or Money Orders much anymore, but apparently they still exist.

We’ve seen the Mt. Hood Railroad Jitney before.  It was basically a bus on rails.
