The foreground of this image is the old marina (1940s-1960s) along the “groin” which stuck out into the Bonneville Pool north of 1st Street, but the background me scratching my head. The structures and rocky shore didn’t fit. It seems we’re looking at an early view of the 1962 construction of what we now call the “Kite Spit” which forms the east side of the Nichols Basin and the West side of the Hood River delta. What we now call Nichols Basin was built right around this marina.
The Hood River White Salmon Bridge is peaking out from the mist in the distance.

I would never guess this was Hood River, but, I do like the clothes hanging on the clothes line. Something we rarely see anymore.

What is the building in the upper right, on the far shore? Did someone have a large home over in that area? Or is that some type of industrial building, perhaps associated with the ongoing construction?

kmb, I think the building is related to the construction. It is raised on pilings.
