The last batch of Camp Yallani slides included some with both dates and visible faces. Here’s a nice grouping of Camp Yallani campers from 1962. Can we put any names to the faces?

I think the girl on the right is Connie Kiyokawa. And the girl in the middle, gray sweater might be Linda Bowe"¦.they are 5 years older than me-
My first year was "˜65.
This is the night before leaving camp. These girls would have shared a cabin and they have made their "Dream Boat" for the evening ceremony. Dream boats were built on a piece of bark or wood ( as long it floated!) it would be decorated with moss, fir and pine boughs, cones; creating a scene or landscape. Each cabin made one-that night they would be tied together, a candle placed on each and then towed by a row boat, out into the middle of the reservoir, and released. We all stood along the dike and sang sad camp songs"¦.our voices carrying across the water, Mt Hood in view. Camp Yallani, our Hearts to you. Our hands to you"¦ðŸŽ¶
Later a counselor would go gather the boats – as it would be bad luck to find them crashed along the shore!

What a wonderful history, thanks for sharing it. I was looking at a series of strange photos of a row boat towing something but had no idea what I was looking at. Now I can properly document the images.
