Historic Hood River
Where Am I?

Notes
I know it’s Halloween, but I have a mystery I’d like solved. We have this Laraway glass plate of a waterfall which I don’t recognize. It appears a building with a viewing platform has been built at the bottom, and it has a waterwheel and some wiring presumably generating a bit of electricity. I think I see some lamps pointing at the falls, so it may have night lighting. It looks a bit like Wau Gwin Gwin Falls, but we have plenty of images of that from the early days, and none show a structure. It doesn’t seem to match any of the Gorge falls. We know Laraway took photographs at Yellowstone and elsewhere around the west coast, but I haven’t been able to find this waterfall. Can you solve the mystery?
[Ed. note: A reader has solved the mystery, identifying this as Glacier Falls at Shasta Springs, CA.]

Thanks to Google Lens, it looks to be Glacier Falls, Shasta Springs.
This linked postcard shows the same waterwheel, what appears to be the same falls, and even the handrail has a globe ending like this image.

Excellent work, Ryan. That’s definitely it. Funny, I did try Google Lens last week and didn’t get this match.
