Safeway is too far west from this site I believe. Closer to where Mayflower & New York City Sub shop are. Wasco Street area.

Checking on google maps and comparing the alignment of Mt Adams and the White Salmon valley put the camera at about Sherman and 17th st. It may be below Sherman but the east west is pretty close to 17th st.

Are those billboards?

We can see the trees on Wells Island in the left corner of the photo. I think the road below the billboards is Highway 30. Back in the day development occurred where 13th joined US 30 and picked up again about 17th with open space in between. I would place this photo was taken from Sherman St.

Is there a date on this photograph? I agree it was taken from Sherman Avenue, from the view of Mt. Adams I would guess the 1400 to 1700 block area. I think the houses visible are on Cascade Avenue, the guardrail on Oak (Highway 30), the junction between the two streets being just out of view to the left. The billboards would be on the high ground behind where Smith's War Surpluss would someday be built.

This looks like where the apartments at Cascade and Oak are. that house there on the left, is the one right next to Kite. Thoughts..?
