Historic Hood River
Waiting For the Ferry?
6-22-2023

Notes
This well-dressed crew is a group that accompanied Ella May Davidson on one of her excursions. I believe they are waiting for the ferry (note the bench), possibly the Underwood Ferry which docked at the mouth of the White Salmon River. The date would be mid-1910s.
It’s hard to imagine dressing like that for an excursion into the countryside, but we’ve seen they dressed like this for every trip. I wonder if they would have dressed so well if there weren’t cameras around? But mostly I wonder what’s inside that carton the woman on the left is carrying. Left-overs from lunch?
