This page from Arline Winchell Moore’s photo album is labeled “Van Horn Butte from the Winchell Butte, 1908.” I haven’t run across the term “Winchell Butte” before, but based on circumstance I suppose that is where the Winchell family had resided.

The hill to the right in the foreground must be where the Crag Rat Hut is.

It’s always been confusing to me– there are 3 buttes in Pine Grove each with a structure at the top, but I can’t identify which is which.

This is a duh question. Are we looking south?

Are they or where the three buttes farmed at any time?

Arthur, we’re Lenz Butte, just northeast of Odell, but that may not be one of the three you’re thinking of. My understanding is that at least Van Horn and Lenz are the remnants of small volcanoes, but I’ve never looked into it very closely.
