UFO Over Mosier?

This is from a set of nice postcards of Mosier found at a thrift store recently. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get them to a good scanner, but the owner let me capture them with my phone camera to share with you.
And no, that’s not a UFO over Main Street. It’s just an electric street light. Another sign of modernity is the Bell Telephone logo on what I think is the general store. There’s also a butcher shop, a realtor and a post office. Based on the electric light but the lack of automobiles or brick buildings, I date this circa 1910. The current brick post office was constructed in 1914.
I am unclear if we are looking west on 3rd Street or south on Main Street. Hopefully a Mosier historian will fill us in.

Alva Day would have loved this photo. Lots of power poles. Any idea where Mosier got their electric power from?

Since there is no forum to post on yet as a general discussion board, I thought posting on the most recent image was going to be my best bet. Do any local historians or otherwise know details about Wind Mountain, the farm land beneath it pre-dam just west of Collins Point, or the Keep Skamania County Green sign painted on rock at the base?

Thank you for the link. I have exhausted all digital archives, including those of universities and digitized museum collections. I am hoping to find a local who knows the history of the area and can maybe shed some more light on the story of Mind Mountain and Collins. I did finally locate an undigitized photo at the Washington State Historical Society that I got scanned and was the first aerial photo (1933) of that spot pre-dam which I could find. Settler history or history of the north bank road are of interest as well for Wind Mountain.

JH, happy to see you using the site this way. Have you seen the Army Corps of Engineers aerial photos and maps (pre-dam, circa 1935) which show the lower elevations in some detail? I have digital copies of all of those which I can share. I’ve shown snippets on this site but it’s a full collection from Bonneville to the Dalles.

To answer LE’s question, I’ve also been wondering about where they got their power from. In 1913 Condit Dam power was crossing the Columbia to HR and I believe Mosier, but this seems earlier. The early Powerdale power could have been connected to Mosier. White River Falls power was in use at The Dalles by 1910, so that’s a possibility too.
