This is Barton Roba Tucker and his wife Martha (Walls) Tucker.
He was born in1840 in North Carolina, but though southern born he left and participated with Sherman on his march to the sea during the Civil War in ther 6th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry.
His twin sons, who were born in 1866 he named Lincoln and Sherman.
Lived in various places prior to coming to Hood River. He actually died in California.
Good photo of what a water tower looked like in that era.

How did they get the water up into the water tower back then? Windmill?

Looks like, if addressing is about the same, this would be in the area of the rental center. Notice the wind will behind the house to drive the pump to fill the water tank.

"Headed out on Tucker Road" now has a whole new meaning.
longshot
Pretty upscale for a farm house of that era to have a concrete walkway and stairs leading in from the street.

Back in the 1950’s, I took painting lessons from Norman Tucker. I wonder if that is the same family.
Rawhyde
Is that power going to those pegs above the center window??
The house on Pine St. was I believe on Hull St. and belonged to the Calments. It was moved to put in the duplex that is accross from their old greenhouse so both families would have a home.

I don’t think that Norman Tucker was of this same family…

So….did the Tuckers move from their grand home at Tucker Bridge, to this home later in life?
P.A
Perhaps the Under the Skin Tattoo building? Previously ETC.
This photo must have been taken between the years of 1907 and the fall of 1910. Reading a history of the Tuckers, it says that in 1907 Mr Tucker purchased a home in HR and left the farm and mill at Tucker’s Bridge to their son. In 1910 they purchased a home in San Diego and moved there to enjoy the warm sunny climate.

Not bad– looks like we have both the building location and a narrow date range. I’ll be showing another house in the same neighborhood soon.
Julia
I am their great-great-great granddaughter. What a gift to find this photo.

Not sure if it is the same house, but there is a house at 900 Pine st. that looks just like this. It is getting remodeled and the contractor told me it was originally on 12 st. somewhere but was moved in the 50’s.
Here it is on G Maps:

Is it possibly the same building?
