This makeshift grave marker at Idlewilde cemetery for Viola M. (Nicklesen) Tabor reminds us what a constant presence tuberculosis was before widespread availability of antibiotics provided effective treatment.  Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Nicklesen, prominent orchardists, she had access to the only treatment in that era– a stay in the desert climate of Arizona.  This article recounts how she found her husband while recuperating in Phoenix, but eventually relapsed and succumbed to the disease.  Tuberculosis is still a common cause of death in many parts of the world, and antibiotic resistant tuberculosis is a growing problem worldwide.
