Historic Hood River
Tricycle and Quadcycle?
4-26-2024

Notes
This is a great view of the neighborhood around the Thomson house at 9th and Cascade, circa 1925. Those kids are very proud of their rides. I suspect that four-wheeled cycle handled like a shopping cart, but I could be wrong.

Supposedly, the tricycle was invented a hundred years before the bicycle.
I wonder how many runaways and wrecks there were on the Hood River hills?

cannot answer the question but I remember how hot my coaster brake got once I got from belmont to cascade and they never gave out

Looks like this is maybe the corner of 8th and Cascade? The home at the southwest corner looks closer to the one in the background.

Diana, I thought it was the house at 8th and Cascade when I first saw it, but we’ve since found multiple documents showing it was this house at 9th and Cascade. These include the Sanborn maps showing the armory across the street, which is visible in some views of this house, as well as the title research which shows the ownership of this house including Mr. Thomson.

Oh interesting! I just keep following along here and hoping I can one day see a peek of my house at 10th and Cascade 😁
