Notes
I believe this image was captured at Fort Vancouver. It’s a good reminder of how the fancy folks got around before automobiles. This carriage appear to have a nice dual leaf spring suspension and good protection from the weather, unless you were the coachman.

I google mapped my way down Officers Row, in hopes I could find the house and perhaps an even larger maple tree, but there were too many trees in the way. If you have never been to Officers Row at Fort Vancouver, it is a beautiful walk.
James
Nice Arthur, Do you have any previously unposted pictures of WaGwinGwin Hotel? Bobby Rand built on the grounds of our Columbia Gorge Hotel…..When I first saw this picture, I thought of our old WaGwinGwin Hotel……! What an era, Horse and Buggy……….!
Dave
This looks like the General O. O. Howard House (1878). The columns are different, but the house looks similar.
Charlott
First thing I actually noticed was that old cannon sitting there with the cannon balls.

I think you are right Dave. The google link is too long to post here, but google does have some beautiful photos of the house.
