Nico Tostevin came to Hood River in 1899 from Chicago where he had been for some time the superintendent of the Chicago Stock Yards. He was originally from the isle of Guernsey coming to the U.S. in 1847.
He would marry Sarah Catlyna Wemple of Fonda, New York. Ironically, my Dutch ancestors were also related to the old Wemple family of Fonda. Small world.
