Historic Hood River

Notes
That’s Ella May Davidson in the snow drift next to a sign which says “3rd St.” The Sign says “D. McDonald Gasoline Supply Station.” In 1910 Dixon McDonald owned a grocery and feed store at 3rd and Cascade. One advertisement called it “The Square Deal Store” and advertised bicycles, fishing tackle, guns and ammunition, as well as a “gasoline supply station.”
I have trouble identifying much else in this image besides the steeple of the United Brethren church at 6th and Oak.
I hope by scheduling this image I’ve guaranteed an end to wintry weather.

Yuk! I don’t care to look at photos of the white stuff for a while.

Some of those roofs have been shoveled but the one immediately below the church steeple evidently shows the total depth of that snow.
