While many stereo cards shared scenery, both local and exotic, there was a distinct genre of cards like this one.  It seems more closely related to a greeting card than a postcard.

Can someone explain what “The bashful lover’s tale of woe, About the way potatoes grow” means?  As is often the case, my search lead down a rabbit hole to this dead end:  a 3000 year old Egyptian papyrus.  I suspect this is a pop culture reference from the early 1900s.
