Here’s a store display for Diamond Brand Oregon Newton Pippin apples, the “4-in-1” apple. They are touting its use in pies, salads, snacks and sauce. 35 cents for a 4 lb. bag, as recommended by “Chef Milani.”
Don’t forget the lecture on Art Deco this evening (Tuesday) at the Museum. Dr. Lynn Orr, Director of the History Museum will be speaking on the subject at 6:30 PM. She recently published a book on the subject. She will be joined by Ellen Shapley, and Architectural Historian, who will tell us where she has found Art Deco design in the Gorge. $5 museum entrance fee gets you in the door.

So sad this wonderful apple was replaced by the tasteless, cardboard Granny Smith. A hand full of valley orchards "might" have the Newton still in production, but many are being replaced.

I agree OrMtnMaid. Appearance over taste seems to be today’s rule.
