Historic Hood River
Thanksgiving 1943
11-27-2024

Notes
Thanksgiving Day 1943 offered an opportunity to show off the new Studebaker. That’s Alta Walter May’s husband Wallace and her brother Andy Walter. I’m surprised they were able to get a new car during the war years.
Hoping all of you are enjoying a festive Thanksgiving this year (and taking lots of photos)– from all of us at the History Museum of Hood River County. Our next Historic Hood River post will be next Monday.

Arthur, you are right about buying a new car during WWII. Studebaker stopped car production the end of Jan 1942, so this car had to be in inventory when purchased in 1942. The license plate does show 1942 registration.

I don’t think today’s new cars are that shiny!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am thankful for this site.

I second L.E.’s motion! MUCH appreciation to Arthur, staff and the Museum for this weekday opportunity to look at HR history.

I 3rd L.E.’s sentiment! History is important in so many ways and a picture is worth….. Thanks for your time and energy to maintain and curate this site.
