This swim team photo has the Koberg Beach stamp on its reverse, though clearly it is not taken at Koberg Beach. The March 25, 1928 date leaves me wondering a) why are they standing outside in the cold, and b) was this building in Hood River? I know Hood River had a municipal pool before the current Aquatic Center, but is this it? Or was the swim team on the road for a competition?

That building does not look like anything I can recall in relationship to swimming in Hood River.
Beings Koberg’s was in its hey day I think they probably did their training there.
Could this have been the "crew" that worked at Koberg’s and not an actual competitive group. If you notice you have those with indication that they are life guards. Then there are those with the patch that might mean trained in the medical portion of the beach.
I think the blonde haired man is none other than Prince Kobert himself, who was by far the best swimmer in the area at the time, plus a great part of running the family business.
Certainly not the swimming pool of the 50’s era.

We have some of these swim suits in our museum collection. They were heavy wool and in most cases were the same for men and women. At once point, I am told, Koberg Beach had these for rent for people who came to swim.

Connie, I think you are correct about the rental of swim suits. Seems I recall hearing something about that way back when.

Sure looks more recent than 1928. I didn’t think my grandmother wore swim suits like that.
Big age difference amongst them.
