That’s a nice looking barn at Billy Sunday’s ranch. It looks like “Ma and Pa” Sunday are entertaining some guests.

Definitely old "Pa" with the white hat on. Must have been one of his rare visits to the farm, as generally he was off preaching "hail and brimstone" somewhere. Ma was the one that must be given credit for that farm. Ma probably inherited money has her father owned the biggest dairy type business in Chicago and was dead set against her marrying Billy, the preacher who had given up a major league baseball career to preach. Helen "Nell" Thompson’s father saw him as a "gold digger." The marriage did take place eventually and in the end it was Nell that had the basic control of anything to do with their finances, both with the farm and the intake from the preaching. She turned out to be quite the manager of things.
Just out of courtesy, probably more for Nell, a member of the local community, the Pine Grove Church and possibly others had the long winded Sunday preach when he was here. I imagine that the congregations found him very long winded as he would go on and on and on until Ma got him to stop….

Charlott, is the original Sunday farm still intact on Sunday Drive or has it been divided up?

The original outhouse from the Sunday Ranch now resides with some folks I know who live on Odell Hwy.
