I read an early 1900’s newspaper interview of a White Salmon resident. who said White Salmon’s strawberries would come on three weeks earlier than Hood River’s. White Salmon took their berries across the river to be shipped to market and HR would promote them as HR berries.

My boys picked strawberries in the summer in HR. Didn’t make much money, but kept them busy.
