There’s plenty of context here, but I don’t recognize the location. Any ideas? Interesting barn design.
I suspect this is one of the Benjamin Gifford images taken for the Commercial Club circa 1910. It is mounted, numbered and labelled just like the other album pages, but it looks like someone removed it from the album in the last 100 years. This is a good time to talk about “context”. When archiving historical material it is important to maintain context, even if you don’t know what the context means. We always take note of the order of images, even if it is a loose stack which may have been shuffled through and reordered 50 times. It’s surprising how many times order has helped me deduce chronological sequence, or small things like mounting technique or handwriting have helped me link a lone image to a grouping that identifies the photographer, location, and date. Even if the context means nothing to me today, some smart person may come through in 20 years and make a connection I missed.

I’d have to guess this is a south facing hill leading into Indian Creek…approximately across from the golf clubhouse?

Rick, I think you’re close. I remember picking strawberries as a kid one summer in that same area.

Amazing. The field is huge and no weeds. I see they are still burning a slash pile from ground that has been cleared.
