This burned over forest seems to be still smouldering. I believe the image is from the 1920s based on its context in a photo album, but I could be mistaken. Can anyone identify the area?
Not an expert, but would guess view of mountain is from the southwest side. Stumps in foreground would indicate logging had been going on in the area. Maybe haulback had siwashed a stump and friction had caused fire on a low humidity day.

Looks like West Fork Hood River to me, hard to tell exactly. Possibly slash burning after some railroad logging.
