Definitely East Side Road prior to there being a road down below which became Hwy.35…..You do see a litle bit of the river down there.
I see men in the back. Wonder if this might not have been a stage coming down from say Parkdale? Gnerally you would see a 4 horse hitch, not too many times you see a 6 horse. . There would be a lot of hills to pull going to and from Hood River to say Parkdale.
The driver looks very professional in his white shirt and tie.

Six horsepower! That is a pretty good sized engine. Maybe because headed out of town is uphill all the way.

I see the Teamster is wearing a bow tie and a white shirt. I kind of like the formality of yester year. I just wish the cab drivers of today would wear a collared shirt.

Charlott..was the original road to the upper valley what is now Eastside Road?

Wonder what species trees were left standing and why? Seem evenly spaced.

Eastside Road goes past Panorama Point, then starts down and comes out just above the old Powerdale.
I can not say 100% it was the very first road from the Pine Grove side of the valley. Highline Road takes off of it, and there is a possibility that it may have been the very first.
I do know that Eastside was the road used in the early 1900’s as I recall my great-uncles tell how much fun it was with a team taking fruit down. Also my Dad related that he at 6 years old had the "privilage" of riding with a load of peaches. He said his first view of Hood River was from Eastside Road with the Bailey Gatzer tied up in the cotton woods where they went to deliver the peaches.
