Historic Hood River
Skating Thomsons? or Franz’s?

Notes
I’m always happy to find an image of people skating in Hood River. My hope is some day to find an image of Hood Riverites ice skating with umbrellas for wind-powered propulsion, as described in this post, but short of that I’ll have to settle for images of every day ice skating. In this post from the George Thomson family album we see a group posing on the ice with their skates as folks skate around behind them. I can’t be sure where this is, but it looks like it might be near the ferry landing/ rail depot area.
I am suspicious the Thomson family album also includes childhood images from Earl and Edgar Franz. Edgar married Wilma Thomson, and I suspect she played a major roll in preparing this album. Some day I’ll need to study the faces more carefully to tease apart the Thomson and Franz families.
