Historic Hood River
Simpson Copple House
11-7-2023

Notes
As we met Claude Copple yesterday, let’s look at his parent’s house. In 1906 Simpson and Alice Copple built this Queen Anne style house at 911 Montello. Records indicate it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. You can read the nomination form here, which includes wonderful detail about its architecture and significance.
Apparently Alice and Simpson Copple moved into the city from a farm in Odell when this house was complete.
This photo is from Sally Donovan’s 1994 historic survey.

What a beautiful home. But I do wonder about that upstairs balcony in a heavy snowfall.
