Here’s another fine image from Elaine Woolston. She worked at Seals from 1946-1949, when she was in high school.
These woman are identified as: (left to right) _____ Turner (married a Grogan), Bette Smith (Walters), and Ruth Weathers.
This luncheonette seems to have invested in the latest audio equipment, with that nice juke box in the back and the music selectors at the lunch counter.

It was in half of what is now Waucoma Bookstore. They had ice cream and sandwiches.

Looking at how wide this room is, it looks like almost the same width that I remember Young's Bakery being back in the 1950's. If Seals closed around 1951 and the Bakery moved in, this could be the space next to where J.C. Penney's was on Oak Street.

Years later Ruth Weathers ran the soda fountain at Barclays' drug store on the Heights settled in after school.

Bettie Walters is famous for Bettie's Place on Oak Street.
At one time the portion of this narrow area next to Penney's housed the Mod-o-day dress shop.

Bette also worked at the lunch counter at the then “new†Safeway store across the street from the library. She made the best bean soup in the world! You had to leave early from work to get a seat at the lunch counter before the telephone company crew took over!ðŸ‘
