I think this Ella May Davidson image is at the lumber deck of the Ruthton Mill, but there’s not enough context to be sure. The subject has a box camera of her own. These simple, inexpensive cameras made it easy for anyone to snap some images if you could afford the film and developing costs.
We have hand written notes from Ella May Davidson identifying many of her negatives, but unfortunately at some point all the negatives were taken out of the numbered sleeves that identified them. Many identify the images by who they were visiting, which makes it hard to line them up with the scenery. Perhaps this is an image from 1912 labeled “Miss B at Ruthton and Road”?

I am a fan of Ella May and her photos. She was adventuresome.
If this is her, she has lost weight compared to her earlier years.
I think Charlott once commented that someone in her family took care of Ella in her later years.

LE, I believe Ella May was the photographer, not the subject. That’s definitely not her face.

If this is Miss B, I wonder if she is on her way up the dirt road to Frankton, or down to the boat dock or catching a ride on the train. I hope she keeps her pretty dress clean.
