Historic Hood River
Roughing It

Notes
This one really makes me smile. These boys seem to be loaded up with all their gear for an overnight trip into the woods. The kid on the right appears to have a sack lunch. The kid on the left with a lard bucket completes the view.

Lots of interesting detail which leads to the question where are they going and what are they doing?
I assume those are not baseball bats, so what are they?
Rico
I think those are "bushwhackers" they are holding?

That is the east side of Riverside Church in downtown Hood River.
It had long been a sponsor of a Boy Scout group.
Ned Marshall was a long time leader as well as the last one.
The boy second from the left seems to have no camping gear.

the young fellow on the far right has his "stuff" together, is organized, and ready to go……

I should also mention that one of my favorite HR memories is the Explorer Scout troop led by Harvey Cardwell and our hike up Eagle Creek. At the camp site one Dick Jones and Dennis Paddock pulled dinner out of their packs….cans of Dinty Moore stew….NOW that is serious hikers…… Don’t think many of us advanced in rank but we had a GREAT time. Thanks Harvey.
