This postcard offers a good view of the old cannery. There’s a fish wheel awaiting repair, and it looks like a man riding a bicycle along the tracks.

The concrete slab for the equipment end of the cannery remains, I keep it clear of blackberries and other debris. The RR is now single track from Sandy siding to Bridal Veil siding, no double track remains here but talking detector 23.0 is just out of the picture to the right.

Looks as if maybe the cannery is no longer in use?
I think this cannery was moved across, and down the river a few miles to Ellsworth. I can remember the Ellsworth Bumble Bee cannery.
I wonder what it is like to ride a bicycle on railroad tracks? Sounds bumpy, but maybe it was an easy way to get somewhere.

Riding bike on railroad tracks not an easy way to get around. Rode 7 miles one way to go to the Sat. afternoon movies when young and then had to ride home in the dark. One trip enough for a lifetime.

The cannery access road still exists from the original highway and can be walked. The top of the road is at a gate in the north end of Women’s Forum Park.

Yes this was the cannery that was moved down to the Ellsworth sight.

When the move was made I wonder if the building was moved or just the business, I thought the building was destroyed on site.

If I remember right, just the inner workings were taken to Ellsworth.
