Pacific Power must have sponsored the rodeo in 1947. I believe someone said the character was called “Reddy Kilowatt?”

Yes, Reddy Kilowatt was his name.
As a child I recall that the rodeo in Hood River was a big event held over at the Rodeo Grounds, on the corner of Belmont and Frankton Rd. Everyone went to the rodeo and many Hood Riverites participated in the event.
Dont’ recall what year it was, but a Brahma Bull got loose and things went into lock down all around. He covered a lot of territory before finally corraled down somewhere around Button Hill and the bridge.

Reddy Kilowatt was not just local, so think it was probably a trademark that was used throughout Pacific Power areas.

You are probably right Charlott. Reddy Kilowatt was throughout the PNW.
The Dalles is still a rodeo town, but it doesn’t seem to fit Hood River any more.

After attending the Palmer/ Wirfs Antique show at the Expo Center last week end, there was a lot of memorabilia for sale regarding this character and NOT CHEAP! From tie bars to pencils, etc. Good logo! You are correct, this was trademarked and used though out the Pacific NW.

I remember Reddy Kilowatt well. In the 1950’s, through the generosity of PP&L’s manager, Ken House, Hood River Civic Theater used to have their evening rehearsals in the back meeting room of their office on Oak Street. I used to go to many of the rehearsals and recall Reddy Kilowatt symbols all around the office.
