Eleven years ago we saw this Alva Day image of “Rockwood” which is now a neighborhood of SE Portland. Somehow I missed this even finer image of the area, taken the same trip. The street sign says “Rockwood Road” which I’m guessing might now be SE 185th Street. We’re likely looking up Baseline (now Stark Street). I hope that church gives some context. Make sure you check out the comments on the earlier Rockwood post which offer some additional info on the area. And finally, the “Webfooters” offer several postcard views which include some of these buildings

In the Webfooters link, there is a photo of Hank Troh’s plane and his airport. Hank was born in Glenwood, Klickitat County. There are photos of Hank’s grandfather, Henry F. Troh, building an airplane about the same time as the Wright Brothers.
