While we talked about Robert Rand’s Wau-Gwin-Gwin Hotel earlier this week, I don’t think I’ve ever shared an image of him.  This print has a stamp of the Hood River News on the reverse, along with the text, “Robert Rand, who interviewed Brigham Young while emigrating to California.”

In 1915 Rand wrote a three part story for the Hood River Glacier describing his 1859 journey from Wisconsin to California:  part 1, part 2, part 3. I’ll warn you his story of his meeting with Brigham Young contains offensive stereotypes which were common in that era.
