Notes
The city received this quote in 1909. I think the stationary is more interesting than the letter. It shows the full line of road construction equipment available in that era.
The city started paving street around 1913. This letter refers to an interest in an oil sprinkler, presumably to control the dust on the city’s dirt roads.
Beall Company was founded in 1905. I’m happy to report they are still in business. You can read their history here.

BEAUTIFUL! what a great piece of history. brother John, ODOT 35 or so years, would have loved to see this as one of his passions was for the Oregon Department of Transportation to develop a serious museum of all their "old" stuff that has been preserved around the state.
This letter also brings back all the bad memories of typing and correcting….bet "K" was not happy with her typo, hope she kept her job. Nothing like doing a theme paper and then having to retype the whole damn thing due to an error somewhere……..

I like Arlen’s idea of a museum for this equipment, it would be somewhat similar to the agricultural museum in Woodland CA.
