Historic Hood River
Rise and Shine

Notes
Notes on the reverse indicate this was used in the Hood River Glacier. The captions reads,
At left Miss Louise Jenkins, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Jenkins of Hood River, and fellow University of Washington student, guests at a recent banquet aboard the American mail liner President Grant in Seattle Harbor.
It’s a little confusing tracing ships as names were reused and a single ship often served under several names, but I believe this entry is the proper SS Grant. The SS President Grant could have been in Seattle between 1923 and 1940. The use of the name “American Mail Lines” limits it to between 1926 and 1938. February 14th was a Monday in 1927 and 1938. Since the Glacier went out of business in 1933, I’m comfortable dating this image to February 14, 1927.
We met her father, Dr. Carey Jenkins a while back in this image.
